In Portugal, the restoration of sovereignty after the Spanish rule from 1580 to 1640 is celebrated on 1 December each year. We recently interviewed Paulo Rangel, a Member of the European Parliament, who talks about how they saw our aspirations for freedom in Portugal 30 years ago.
32 years ago, the then-Czechoslovak revolution took place in November-December, leading to the overthrow of the Communist Party. We are listening to the young entrepreneur Juraj Antal from a time when Slovakia was not yet a sovereign state.
THE MEANING OF PRO PATRIA
Pro Patria Institute is one of the many bridges between Estonia and the rest of Europe. The name of Pro Patria declares standing for one’s native country. The linguistic origin of this name lies in the cradle of Europe – ancient Rome.
Thus, Pro Patria Institute marks Estonia in Europe and Europe in Estonia. These two have grown together during centuries and this has enabled Estonia to survive despite all ordeals.
Pro Patria Institute is a small but strong brick in the future building of Estonia.
